Downtown Toronto Landmark Achieves Sustainable Energy
The newly built Hotel RIU Toronto, a striking 48-story establishment featuring 567 rooms across approximately 290,000 square feet in the vibrant heart of downtown, sought an energy solution that would not only enhance its operational efficiency but also align with its commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience and advancing its sustainability goals.
Vergent implemented a 130 kW onsite generation system for the Hotel RIU Toronto. Scheduled for commissioning in 2025, this Combined Heat and Power (CHP) system features two Capstone C65 ICHP microturbines. These microturbines are designed for quiet operation (less than 65 decibels) and ultra-clean emissions, making them perfectly suited for an urban hotel environment, and are discreetly mounted outdoors on the hotel’s rooftop.
This advanced CHP system provides significant cost savings and robust energy resilience, ensuring uninterrupted operations. By generating power on-site, the Hotel RIU Toronto can consistently deliver an exceptional customer experience while simultaneously advancing its sustainability goals through efficient, clean energy production.
