This 195 kW CHP system at the new RIU Plaza Hotel Chicago, provides cost savings and energy resilience for hotel operations and sustainability.
Overview
Repeat Customer Powers Guest Experience with Onsite CHP
The newly built RIU Plaza Hotel Chicago, a 28-story establishment featuring 390 rooms across approximately 273,500 square feet in the heart of downtown, sought an energy solution that would not only enhance its operational efficiency but also align with its commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience and advancing its sustainability goals.
Vergent implemented a 195 kW onsite generation system for the RIU Hotel. Scheduled for commissioning in 2025, this Combined Heat and Power (CHP) system features three Capstone C65 ICHP microturbines, designed for quiet operation (less than 65 decibels) and ultra-clean emissions, perfectly suited for an urban hotel environment. The microturbines are discreetly mounted outdoors on the hotel’s rooftop.
This advanced CHP system provides significant cost savings and robust energy resilience, ensuring uninterrupted operations. By generating power on-site, the RIU Hotel can consistently deliver an exceptional customer experience while simultaneously advancing its sustainability goals through efficient, clean energy production.
