Overview

Off-grid generation powering utility operations

Located only a few hours from Chicago, this Nicor Gas site is responsible for storage of 150 billion cubic feet of gas to feed Illinois throughout the winter months. This site is off-grid, requiring 1.2MW of onsite generation to support operations for this division of Southern Company.

The project was initiated by the customer looking to replace aging reciprocating engines that supplied electricity to the site due to the low reliability and high cost of maintenance. The customer was seeking a solution that did not require operators, time-intensive monthly maintenance and significant site downtime.
