Renewable Natural Gas

Decarbonize your natural gas usage without any capital investment. We can help you procure a cleaner fuel supply contract to supercharge your sustainability initiatives.

Overview

Decarbonize your natural gas usage by blending in or switching over to Renewable Natural Gas (RNG).

RNG is sourced from solid waste landfills, wastewater treatment facilities, and livestock farms, to name a few examples. RNG can be distributed using existing natural gas distribution systems, making procurement a fast and effective part of your decarbonization strategy.

Aggressive electrification goals often requires significant capital investment and effort to implement. RNG is a fast and easy alternative in the interim to meet corporate objectives.

Our team can help you determine the best option for your facility, based on your sustainability targets, timeline and budget.

Fuel Decarbonization with RNG

Vergent uses its exclusive rights to RNG supply sources to provide both voluntary and regulated natural gas users with a low to negative carbon alternative to natural gas.  Building owners can decarbonize their heating systems without any capital investment.  Electrifying HVAC equipment is costly and leaves building owners exposed to HVAC failure in the event of a grid outage.  Switching to RNG requires no capital investment and enables the heating system to operate independently of the power grid.

How it works

Vergent can help you determine the best option for your facility and procure a long-term fuel supply contract to maximize your organization’s ROI and/or sustainability initiatives. We source RNG for customers throughout North America, in addition to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for fuel switching from oil or propane.

We are a direct to third-party provider

Our background with biogas enabled our business to develop relationships with RNG project owners/developers, gas marketers, policymakers to develop our service offering.  Our model ensures physical delivery of RNG is feasible and meets applicable state and local compliance pathways.

Carbon Reduction At Scale

Procure RNG as you need, so that you can meet your decarbonization goals with confidence. We offer RNG fuels at varying carbon-intensities to provide you with options.

Regulatory Compliance

Many states are mandating Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission reductions that will affect your business. RNG can help you to reduce your carbon intensity and avoid penalties.

No Capital Required

Using RNG is simple: Our producers inject RNG into existing natural gas pipeline networks. Your facility then uses this fuel substitute that's virtually indistinguishable from natural gas.

Frequently Asked Questions

Biogas is the raw gas produced by the breakdown of organic materials in an oxygen-free (anaerobic) environment. After removal of contaminants and other gases, biogas becomes RNG, which is typically more than 90% methane. Biomethane is another name for RNG.
RNG feedstocks include waste streams from livestock, landfills, wastewater treatment plants and food. Recycling these waste streams avoids the release of methane, which has global warming potential 28–34 times greater than carbon dioxide. The RNG that we provide our customers is sourced from landfills, livestock operations and waste water treatment plants across the U.S.
Yes! RNG can be used with microturbines to make existing systems even more clean and green.
