Overview
Town WWTP Evolves with Clean Energy
When the City of Winona, MN, first upgraded its wastewater treatment plant in 2008 with a microturbine CHP system. In 2024, the city ordered two Capstone C65 ICHP microturbines and a Vergent controller, doubling the facility’s renewable energy output while maintaining its commitment to cost-effective operations.
Leveraging a combination of federal tax benefits and a Department of Energy grant, the City was able to cover 90% of the project’s costs.
